Site was acquired in 1991 from Wardspring Council as a Golf Facility by Avoncrest Developments Ltd. A 125 year lease was signed in 1994 and the Floodlit Golf Driving Range was built and opened in 1995/6. A separate 9 hole golf course was under construction and after 6 years of operations the Range closed and the course construction suspended. Various Planning Applications were refused and North Somerset Council requested various design briefs. From these NSC rezoned the site as Mixed Use Development in 2007 to contain 25 acres retail, 25 acres employment and 20 acres of leisure.

ADL are currently exploring the possibility of a Large Leisure Facility on the some 10 acres of the site and are now progressing to heads of terms for 2010
The current ADF is looking for 600 residential units, Employment/Business and open space/ leisure. At present ADL have presented NSC with a counter proposal for the retention of some retail for a more balanced development
